Success Course Moves Needle at Tulsa Community College

Imagine a classroom full of 30 students in neat rows of desks ready to start their first year of college. Now imagine half those students vanish, leaving just 15 students on one side of the room and 15 empty desks on the other. This image is a reflection of the typical community college classroom with national research telling us that 50 percent of first-time freshmen drop out of college by the end of their first year.

Since 2006, Tulsa Community College has participated in Achieving the Dream, and like many community colleges nationally, we identified student persistence as a key priority we needed to address.
